The Canadian workforce is experiencing changes to how work is getting done. From the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, to the adoption of technologies in the workforce, workers and employers in many sectors need help in accessing employment and training resources that are responsive to their unique needs.

The FLMM is exploring how to build a highly skilled, resilient and adaptable labour force where workers and employers are equipped to adjust to technological changes, demographic shifts, and future labour market disruptions. Key areas of work include :

  • testing new approaches to encourage employer-supported training to strengthen recruitment and productivity.
  • establishing a common definition of precarious and gig workers and developing effective employment and skills programming to meet their needs.
  • enhancing and increasing employment and training supports delivered through digital and virtual technologies.
